Case Study

Park Slope Eye: rebuilding an established practice for modern discovery.

This case study documents how years of practice knowledge, legacy content and operational detail are being turned into a clearer, faster and more maintainable digital platform.

Status: in development. The rebuilt site is still under staged review, so this page deliberately separates process evidence from post-launch outcomes.

Context

The practice

An established independent Brooklyn optometry practice with substantial clinical, operational and educational content accumulated over many years.

Problem

The challenge

Modernize information architecture, patient comprehension, technical performance, mobile UX, accessibility, search readiness and maintainability without flattening the details that make the practice distinctive.

Approach

The process

The rebuild begins with source-of-truth work: doctors, services, insurance distinctions, contact-lens capabilities, optical policies, technology, patient communication preferences, clinical-review requirements and legacy content worth preserving.

Control

The build discipline

The site is developed in version control with staged review, explicit approval checkpoints, automated build checks and a noindex staging environment before any production cutover.

What this project is testing

Can a practice website become a better source of truth?

The central question is broader than visual design. The project is testing whether a practice can document itself clearly enough that patients, traditional search systems and emerging AI tools all have better information to work from.

That means treating doctor identities, services, insurance, policies, educational content and local context as connected information—not isolated marketing pages.

Evidence already available

Some improvements can be inspected before the site ever launches.

Content

Preservation with review.

Valuable legacy material is inventoried, preserved where appropriate and reviewed rather than discarded simply because the site is being rebuilt.

Experience

Patient comprehension is tested.

Navigation, service explanations, insurance distinctions, calls to action and mobile behavior are reviewed as working patient pathways.

Engineering

Deployment is controlled.

Version control, automated checks, staged deployment and explicit cutover safeguards reduce the risk of treating launch as a one-click event.

Evidence standard

We separate improvements we can inspect from outcomes we have to earn.

Before launch

We can document architecture, content coverage, accessibility checks, performance, structured data, mobile behavior, deployment controls and preservation of valuable legacy content.

After launch

Search visibility, indexing, discovery patterns, lead quality and any effect on patient acquisition require real-world observation. Those results will be added only when they can be supported.

No rankings, citations or AI recommendations will be presented as guaranteed outcomes.

The case study will grow with the evidence.

Once the rebuilt site is live, this page can become a transparent record of what changed, what was measurable and what actually happened after launch.
